Extensive, coordinated search operations were carried out throughout the day in cooperation with the authorities of Greece and Israel until the vessel was located.
The sailing vessel that departed from Israel on 2 December bound for Crete and had been reported missing was located shortly before noon by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), bringing an end to days of concern, according to reports by RIK.
Search and rescue operations were ongoing throughout the day, with the JRCC conducting extensive and coordinated efforts in close cooperation with the competent authorities of Greece and Israel, until the vessel was successfully located.
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Israel was working jointly with Greece and Cyprus to locate the Israeli vessel, after contact was lost amid adverse weather conditions. No further details were provided at the time.
