Livestock farmers staged a short protest on Sunday at the entrance of Nicosia, raising concerns about the handling of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak.

The farmers carried out a brief march and gathering, temporarily blocking the road before holding a protest outside the Ministry of Agriculture. The demonstrators voiced opposition to the culling of animals linked to the disease control measures.

According to police information, the protest took place at the intersection of Limassol and Athalassas avenues. Police officers were present at the scene to regulate traffic during the gathering.

The protesters also submitted a memorandum outlining their demands to the Director of Veterinary Services, Christodoulos Pippis.

After the protest concluded, the demonstrators dispersed and traffic returned to normal.
