A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Limassol after being found inside a residence that had been burgled, with police later establishing links to a separate burglary at a medical practice in the city.

According to police, the owner of the residence reported on Monday morning that his home had been broken into between 8 and 15 December, during which a television set was stolen.

Later that afternoon, information was received indicating that an individual was unlawfully inside the residence. Members of the Limassol Crime Investigation Department rushed to the scene, where they located the 25-year-old suspect inside the property.

Investigations confirmed that the house had indeed been burgled. The suspect was arrested for offences committed in the act. A backpack found in his possession contained a laptop, three chargers, a power bank, several sets of keys, as well as two torches and two screwdrivers.

Further enquiries revealed that the laptop had been stolen from a medical practice in Limassol following a burglary of the premises. That incident had been reported to the Limassol CID last Friday, 12 December.

A court-issued arrest warrant was subsequently executed, under which the suspect was taken into custody to assist with investigations into the burglary and theft cases.

The Limassol Crime Investigation Department continues its examinations.
