The 26 year old stabbing victim was named as Alexandros Antoniou from Paphos after succumbing to his injuries just before three this morning at a private hospital ICU in Limassol, a police statement said.

He was attacked and suffered multiple stab wounds across his torso on Wednesday early evening outside a kiosk at the Konia community, following a verbal altercation with a 58 year old who is already in custody and was re-arrested on a premeditated murder charge.

Following due process, a court warrant was issued against the suspect, who was arrested an hour after the victim died. He was remanded in custody for a further eight days by the district court in Paphos.

The cause of death was a stab wound to the carotid artery, said coroner Nicholas Charalambous following an autopsy on Antoniou's body.

The Paphos CID is investigating the circumstances of the crime, which according to reports, was down to personal differences between the two men, after the 58 year old's daughter recently separated from the young man.

Sources say that she reported harassment to the police, hours before the killing.
