According to the Euro Mediterranean Institute, the quake was measured at 4,3 and occurred 11 km SE of Paphos.

It is one of dozens of aftershocks that have been recorded since yesterday morning's major 5,3 double quakes.

A second strong aftershock was recorded in the Paphos district just before noon, as Cyprus remains in a cycle of seismic activity, following two 5,3 tremors yesterday morning and early in the afternoon.

According to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute, the quake was measured at 4,5 and occurred 11 km SE of Paphos and specifically Ayia Marina Kelokedaron, the same area as yesterday morning.

It was felt across the city of Paphos, lasting a few seconds.

Officials have described the activity around the island as unprecedented and are still not certain whether the 5,3 was the main tremor.

'Patience is needed', head of Geological Survey Department Christodoulos Hadjigeorgiou said.

Relevant services remain on alert, as aftershocks continue.
