As part of preventive operations, Police proceeded on Tuesday night with the arrest of seven individuals for various offences, including possession of drugs and explosive materials, intoxication, illegal employment, outstanding fine warrants, assault against a police officer and resistance to lawful arrest.
According to a Police announcement, during the operations carried out overnight, 375 drivers and 114 passengers were stopped and checked. At the same time, 45 inspections of premises were conducted aimed at tackling delinquent behaviour, resulting in one report.
During traffic checks, 244 reports were filed for various traffic offences, while 17 traffic‑related cases are under investigation.
Of the reports issued, 50 concerned speeding offences. In addition, 18 vehicles were seized as part of police checks.
Furthermore, 65 alcohol tests were carried out, resulting in four reports, while additional checks identified five drivers who tested positive in drug tests.
“Coordinated policing operations for the prevention and suppression of crime continue on a daily basis, with increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action, with the aim of enhancing the sense of security for citizens, protecting the public and safeguarding public order,” the announcement concludes.
