New evidence from the ambulance crew that responded to Giorgos Mazonakis is being examined as part of the investigation into the singer's death, with emergency responders recording that doctors at the clinic allegedly refused to provide information about the patient.
According to the ambulance report completed during Mazonakis' transfer from the medical practice on Karneadou Street to Elpis Hospital, the singer was not breathing when emergency responders arrived.
Doctors allegedly refused to provide information
The ambulance report states that a doctor had initially attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before Mazonakis was subsequently administered adrenaline.
Particular attention is being paid to what the responders recorded about the conduct of the doctors present at the clinic.
"The doctors who were at the scene refused to provide information about the patient," the report states.
The information adds to the evidence being examined by investigators following the remand in custody of the two doctors connected to the case.
Mazonakis found in semi-seated position
Giorgos Mathiopoulos, president of EKAV employees, also described what responders encountered when they arrived at the clinic.
Speaking to SKAI, Mathiopoulos said Mazonakis was found in a semi-seated position.
He explained that CPR cannot be performed correctly in such a position. Emergency responders therefore placed the singer horizontally before carrying out the required resuscitation procedures.
The crew performed three cycles of CPR but was unable to revive him. Mazonakis was subsequently transported to Elpis Hospital while receiving oxygen.
Questions over CPR before ambulance arrived
Asked whether the doctors had been performing CPR before EKAV arrived, Mathiopoulos reiterated that responders found Mazonakis in a semi-seated position.
He also claimed that an attempt at resuscitation was being made "with one hand."
"That is not CPR," Mathiopoulos said.
No doctor accompanied him to hospital
Mathiopoulos also said none of the doctors at the clinic ultimately accompanied Mazonakis to hospital.
According to his account, one doctor went downstairs with the emergency responders to the ambulance but did not board after being informed that the singer would be taken to Elpis Hospital.
The ambulance report and the responders' accounts are now among the elements being examined by authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding Mazonakis' death.
