The United States has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 45‑day extension of their ceasefire to allow further progress in talks.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the “cessation of hostilities” agreed on 16 April has been extended, with Washington set to resume diplomatic discussions on 2 and 3 June.
The development comes as the Israeli military’s Arabic‑language spokesperson issued an urgent warning to residents in the Lebanese city of Tyre, accusing the Iran‑backed Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire.
The Israeli Defense Forces marked a specific area of the city in red, urging residents to “evacuate immediately” and remain at least 300 metres away.
