Donald Trump has said Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged that Beijing would not provide military equipment to Tehran, as he disclosed details of their talks in an interview with Fox News.
Speaking to the US television network, Trump said Xi had assured him that China “will not give military equipment” to Iran.
“That is a very important statement. He said it today,” Trump said, adding that the Chinese leader had made the pledge “strongly”.
Trump had earlier said that China had agreed to help the United States in efforts to resolve the situation created by the conflict with Iran, while the two countries also agreed that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
