The government says it has no role in the course of the investigations, stressing that the matter falls under the remit of the police and the Legal Service.

The executive has no involvement, and should have no involvement, in the progress of investigations into the “Sandy” case, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Friday.

Asked during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace whether the findings of the investigations into the case would be made public before the elections, Letymbiotis said the status of the inquiries is a matter for the police and the Legal Service.

“As the executive authority, and in line with the independence of institutions, we have neither any briefing nor, of course, any involvement in the course or progress of the investigations, nor should we have,” he said.
