During today, periods of locally increased cloud are expected. Early in the day, particularly in western areas, there is a chance of isolated showers. By midday and later, developing cloud is likely to trigger localised rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains, as well as in southern and eastern areas and possibly inland. Hail may occur during storms.
Winds will blow from south-west to north-west, initially light to moderate at 3-4 Beaufort, gradually strengthening by the afternoon to moderate to strong at 4-5 Beaufort, with temporarily strong winds along the coast. The sea will be slightly rough to rough, and rough in south-western areas.
Temperatures will rise to around 28°C inland, about 27°C along the south-east, east and northern coasts, near 24°C along the south-west and west coasts, and about 19°C in the higher mountains.
Overnight, periods of increased low cloud will develop, especially along the coasts and later inland. In the early morning hours, patchy mist or fog is expected to form locally, mainly in eastern areas.
Coastal winds will remain south-westerly to north-westerly, light at around 3 Beaufort and occasionally moderate at 3-4 Beaufort, while inland winds will be variable and light at 2-3 Beaufort. The sea will gradually become slightly rough.
Temperatures will drop to around 14°C inland, near 16°C along the coasts and about 8°C in the higher mountains.
On Friday, conditions will remain partly cloudy, with isolated showers and thunderstorms expected mainly after midday, particularly over the mountains, inland and possibly in some northern areas. Hail is possible in thunderstorms.
On Saturday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with isolated coastal showers early on. From midday onwards, local rain and thunderstorms are expected, particularly over the mountains and across the eastern half of the island, where conditions may intensify. Hail is likely in storms.
On Sunday, partly cloudy conditions will persist, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms developing after midday, especially in mountainous areas and the eastern half of the island. Hail remains possible.
Temperatures on Friday are not expected to change significantly. However, a drop is forecast on Saturday, particularly over inland and mountainous areas, with values remaining at similar levels on Sunday and continuing below the seasonal average.
