Fire in Geri Buffer Zone Brought Under Control

Blaze started in agricultural machinery before spreading to dry vegetation

A fire that broke out in the buffer zone in the Geri area was brought under control.

According to the Fire Service, firefighting stations in the Nicosia district responded to the incident with three fire engines, accompanied by United Nations personnel.

The fire, which is now under control, started in agricultural machinery within the buffer zone and spread to dry grass, stubble and hay bales, affecting an area of approximately one square kilometre.
