Cyprus has achieved significant progress in the global startup ecosystem rankings, according to the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026.
According to an announcement by the Research and Innovation Foundation, Cyprus now ranks 34th worldwide, climbing six positions compared to last year.
The country recorded the highest growth rate for the third consecutive year, with annual growth of 62.7%, while the report estimates the value of its startup ecosystem at $4.2 billion.
All four cities of Cyprus are included in the list of the Top 1,000 cities globally, with Limassol becoming the first Cypriot city to enter the Top 200, ranking 191st.
The strongest startup sector in Cyprus is Social and Leisure, which includes areas such as gaming, social platforms and networks, entertainment, wellbeing, travel and cultural experiences, and recreation. Cyprus ranks 26th globally in this sector, while in the gaming subcategory it ranks 16th worldwide.
The report concludes that if Cyprus maintains its strong business environment, it has the potential to develop into a significant player within the European innovation ecosystem, the Research and Innovation Foundation noted.
