Temporary traffic arrangements are expected to be in place in Nicosia tomorrow, Tuesday 21 July, because of a protest organised by the Cyprus Association of Petrol Station Owners.
According to a police announcement, protesters will gather at 10am in the GSP car park before marching in an organised procession toward the Presidential Palace via Iosif Hadjiiosif Street and Athalassas Avenue.
Police said temporary traffic control measures may be introduced in the area because of the mobilisation, aimed at facilitating the march while maintaining public order and safety. Drivers are asked to be patient and to follow the instructions of officers on duty, with police recommending the use of alternative routes where possible to avoid disruption.
Police also noted that under the 2025 Law on Public Gatherings and Marches, organisers are responsible for ensuring the event proceeds smoothly and peacefully and must cooperate with the relevant authorities. The legislation also gives police the power to impose restrictions on a gathering, or even disperse it, if it ceases to be peaceful, if there is a risk of physical harm or damage to public or private property, or if imposed conditions are not observed.
