An examination on basic knowledge of Cyprus’s modern political and social reality will take place on Saturday, 4 July, for third‑country nationals applying for long‑term residence status or citizenship, in line with current legislation.
According to the Examinations Service of the Ministry of Education, applications can only be submitted online through the JCC Smart platform at https://www.jccsmart.com/businesses/35000587/pay/7320, with a fee of €20. The application period runs from Tuesday, 19 May to Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
Applicants are required to ensure that all personal details provided in their submission are accurate and match those on their ID or passport, as this information will be used for exam notifications and the issuance of certificates.
All valid applicants will be informed at a later stage of the exam centre, time, candidate number and instructions.
The exam will be conducted in Greek and will cover topics including current affairs, modern Cypriot history since 1960, customs and traditions, geography, political system, institutions, economy, entry requirements, telecommunications, climate, languages, religion, currency, working hours, public holidays, health and safety, and transport.
The syllabus focuses on basic knowledge rather than detailed understanding. Candidates are advised to consult the Tourism Deputy Ministry website for relevant information, which is available in Greek and other languages.
