International Police Cooperation Visit to Israel Led by Cyprus Defence Chief

Discussions focused on cooperation, interoperability and regional security

The Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defence, Major General Haris Georgiou, paid a working visit to Israel, accompanied by the Deputy Commander of Civil Defence and the Director of the Central Civil Emergency Planning Service, according to a statement by the Ministry.

The visit took place at the invitation of the Head of the National Emergency Management Authority, Brigadier General Itsik Bar.

The Chief of Staff and the Deputy Commander held bilateral meetings with their counterparts, including officials of the National Emergency Management Authority. Separate meetings were also held with the Home Front Command, its Chief of Staff and officials of the Israeli Ministry of Defence.

Discussions focused on the exchange of know‑how, improving interoperability and strengthening preparedness to address modern challenges.

Developments in the broader Eastern Mediterranean were also reviewed, with emphasis on the importance of cooperation in ensuring stability, security and the protection of critical infrastructure.

“The visit confirms the firm will of both countries to further strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest,” the statement said.
