Affordable, sustainable and social housing, alongside emerging housing market trends, are the focus of the Informal EU Ministerial Meeting on Housing, taking place on Tuesday in Nicosia under the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The meeting is chaired by Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou and brings together EU ministers responsible for housing, representatives of European institutions and key stakeholders from the housing sector. According to the Presidency, the aim is to promote dialogue, strengthen cooperation among member states and contribute to a more inclusive and resilient housing landscape.
Amid mounting pressure on housing systems across the EU due to rising costs, structural shortages and demographic challenges, the discussions are expected to place affordable, sustainable and decent housing high on the European agenda.
The meeting is being held at the Filoxenia Conference Centre. Ministers and heads of delegation are welcomed between 9.00 and 9.15 am, while a press conference is scheduled for 3.00 pm.
