The right lane of the Limassol–Paphos motorway has been closed in both directions due to maintenance works, with the police urging drivers to exercise caution as roadworks are under way across Cyprus.

The right lane of the Limassol–Paphos motorway has been closed since around 10.30 am on Monday in both directions, between Episkopi and Paphos, due to cleaning works being carried out on the central reservation.

Police have advised motorists to drive at a safe and reduced speed, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and comply with temporary road signs in the area.

At the same time, roadworks are continuing on several major routes across Cyprus, affecting traffic flow at various times of the day.

Roadworks across Cyprus

On the Larnaca–Famagusta–Larnaca airport motorway, works involving vegetation maintenance and road markings are being carried out in sections between the airport, Rizoeilia roundabout and Kalo Chorio on selected dates through to the end of June, with partial lane closures during daytime hours.

On the Larnaca–Kofinou and Larnaca–Nicosia motorways, works related to the installation of emergency access gates and routine maintenance are under way, leading to the temporary closure of stretches of the right lane in both directions, mainly during off-peak hours.

On the Limassol–Nicosia motorway, night-time resurfacing works are taking place until mid-May, with traffic diverted to the opposite carriageway and operating under two-way flow in affected sections.

Further works are also in progress on the Limassol bypass, the Paphos–Limassol motorway and sections of the old Nicosia–Limassol road, involving drainage cleaning, vegetation care, resurfacing and the development of utility networks.

In urban areas, long-term projects continue in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos, including improvements to major avenues, coastal roads and pedestrian infrastructure, with temporary diversions and partial closures in place.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance, follow on-site signage and instructions from traffic authorities and remain alert while travelling through areas where works are being carried out.
