Livestock Farmer Arrested After Allegedly Kicking Veterinary Services Officer in Kofinou

The officer was part of a team visiting the farm to collect samples under foot-and-mouth disease measures.

 

A livestock farmer in the Kofinou area was arrested shortly before noon on Friday after allegedly assaulting an officer from the Veterinary Services.

According to initial information, Veterinary Services officers had gone to the farmer’s premises to collect samples as part of the measures being implemented against foot-and-mouth disease.

At some point during the visit, the farmer allegedly attacked one of the officers, kicking him in the leg. Police officers who were accompanying the Veterinary Services team were present at the scene and immediately proceeded with the farmer’s arrest.
