Cypriot team CY Beach Club claimed the gold medal at the Chania Beach Handball Tournament 2026, finishing first at the event held at Agioi Apostoloi beach in Chania, Crete. The side completed the competition without losing a single match.
The tournament
According to the Cyprus Handball Federation, the tournament was organised with the support of Idomeneas Chanionand the Municipality of Chania. It served as the third stage of the 27th Panhellenic Beach Handball Championshipand was also part of the European Beach Tour.
An unbeaten run
CY Beach Club recorded victories in every match it played. In the group stage, the team defeated Chania and Kyklopes Alexandroupolis by 2-0, and overcame Norseforce with a 2-1 win.
In the semi-finals, the Cypriot side beat Chania 2-0 to secure a place in the final. There, a further 2-0 victory over Kyklopes Alexandroupolis sealed the gold medal.
MVP honour for Konstantinidou
A special distinction for CY Beach Club came with the naming of Alexandra Konstantinidou as MVP of the tournament.
The squad
The team, coached by Petros Prokopiou, consisted of Angela Dimitrijevic, Alexandra Konstantinidou, Nikolina Andreou, Harikleia Andreou, Elena Mirachi, Maria Christou, Alexandra-Elena Irimia and Chara Christodoulou.
The Cyprus Handball Federation congratulated the entire team on the achievement.
