The government's total investment in public hospitals amounts to €206.7 million, following the decision to promote additional projects worth €61.7 million, President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides announced.
The new projects
In a video message on the Health sector, the President said that further to the infrastructure projects worth €145 millionalready announced and under way for public hospitals, including the construction of a new hospital in Polis Chrysochous, the Government this week decided on additional projects worth €61.7 million.
Specifically, as he said, the following are proceeding:
- The second and third phases of the Athalassa Mental Health Centre
- The creation of a new Infectious Diseases Unit at Nicosia General Hospital
- The upgrading of the Intensive Care Unit and the Internal Medicine Department at Larnaca General Hospital, along with new facilities for a Cardiology and a Pulmonology Clinic
- Significant upgrading and maintenance works at Troodos Hospital

"Projects in every district. Infrastructure for every citizen, wherever they may be," the President stated, adding that behind every project stands a patient, a family and a health professional.
