The Drug Law Enforcement Unit has arrested two suspects, aged 25 and 26, in the Limassol district following the discovery and confiscation of approximately three kilograms of cannabis. The police operation was initiated following the evaluation of intelligence indicating that the two individuals were concealing commercial quantities of controlled substances at multiple locations.
During surveillance operations conducted on Thursday, anti-narcotics officers observed the 25-year-old suspect depositing two nylon bags at distinct open-air locations in the Limassol countryside. Subsequent inspection of the discarded packages by investigators confirmed they contained cannabis with a combined weight of approximately 2.13 kilograms.
Following the drops, officers intercepted the vehicle driven by the 25-year-old. A search of the automobile revealed an additional 29 grams of cannabis, leading to his immediate arrest for an in-flagrante delicto offence.
Residential searches and court proceedings
The investigation subsequently expanded to the residence of the 26-year-old suspect. Prior to entering the property, officers located two nylon bags containing approximately 168 grams of cannabis hidden at two separate points in an open area adjacent to the house.
A comprehensive search of the property followed, during which officers discovered nine additional nylon bags concealed within the courtyard and an external storage shed. The packages contained approximately 478 grams of cannabis, resulting in the immediate arrest of the second suspect.
The two men are scheduled to appear before the Limassol District Court for the issuance of formal detention orders to facilitate further enquiries. The Limassol division of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit maintains an active investigation into the distribution network.
