Campaign Ban Enforced for Legislative Election Weekend

The Chief Electoral Officer reminds candidates and the public of penalties ahead of Sunday's parliamentary vote.

The Chief Electoral Officer has announced a strict prohibition on the distribution of campaign literature and the display of political slogans for Saturday 23 May and Sunday 24 May 2026, marking the eve and day of voting for the parliamentary elections.

According to an official statement, existing electoral legislation explicitly bans the distribution of flyers, the hanging of banners, the posting of signs, and the writing of slogans related to the election during this period.

Authorities noted that violators will face criminal prosecution. Upon conviction, individuals could be subject to a prison sentence of up to one year, a administrative fine reaching 5,000 euros, or both penalties combined.
