Jonathan Andic was arrested by Catalan police following a months-long investigation into the death of billionaire Isak Andic.

The eldest son and successor of Mango founder Isak Andic has been arrested by Catalan police in connection with his father's death. Jonathan Andic, who maintains his innocence, was detained following a lengthy investigation that began as an accident inquiry but rapidly shifted focus toward homicide.

The investigation stems from an incident on 14 December 2024, when 71-year-old Isak Andic fell from a cliff while hiking along the Montserrat Caves trail near Barcelona. The billionaire businessman, an experienced hiker, was in the area for recreation with family members. While his death was initially attributed to a tragic accident, investigators grew suspicious of the circumstances after the younger Andic's account of the event failed to convince authorities.

According to reports in the Spanish press, Jonathan Andic was the only person with his father at the exact time of the fall. Police sources indicate that the 45-year-old provided conflicting statements during questioning, leaving gaps in his timeline and describing events that contradicted the physical evidence gathered by investigators at the scene.

The suspicion surrounding the executive was further intensified by testimony from Estefania Knut, a professional golfer and the partner of the late billionaire. Knut reportedly told authorities that relations between the father and son had been severely strained prior to the incident.

Born in Istanbul, Isak Andic moved to Barcelona at the age of 14 and founded Mango in 1984. He grew the brand into one of the world's largest fashion retail groups, spanning 2,800 stores across more than 100 countries. At the time of his death, he was the wealthiest person in Catalonia, with a fortune estimated at 4.5 billion euros.

Jonathan Andic, born in 1981, currently sits on the company's board of directors and had been positioned as his father's successor. The arrest has sent shockwaves through the international business community as the Catalan justice system prepares its formal case.
