Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he is suspending, “for a short period of time”, the US military operation escorting commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which lasted just one day, in order to assess the possibility of concluding an agreement with Iran to end the war in the Middle East.
“The Freedom Plan will be suspended for a short period of time to see whether a deal can or cannot be finalised and signed,” the Republican US president said in a post on Truth Social, referring to the name he gave the operation.
