The Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival returns for its 11th edition this October, running from 2 to 4 October across Nicosia and organised, as always, by the Home for Cooperation.
The festival has been on pause since its 10th edition in 2023, using the break to restructure and move to a biennial format. That shift, organisers say, has given the festival more room to reflect on its place within Cyprus' evolving artistic landscape and to focus on building deeper, more sustainable collaborations rather than simply returning each year.
This year's edition marks a return to what has always set Buffer Fringe apart, a space built around the transformative role of the arts in intercommunal exchange and around artists willing to challenge audiences through their work. The 2026 line-up brings together ten artists and artist groups from Cyprus and abroad for three days of performances and installations exploring physical and mental barriers and opening up new ways of experiencing artistic expression.
The programme includes Sophie Fetokaki and Rahme Veziroglu (Cyprus) with "The Fruit of Dreams," Anas Younes (Syria/Netherlands) with "On Anger and Fatigue," Yeva Sai and Matteo Marongiu (Ukraine/Italy) with "One Sunday Morning," the Koullou Makka Collective (Cyprus) with "In Our Bubble(s)," Beatrice Mariani, Skyla Buchanan, Chiara Capizzi and Jitske Cosemans (Cyprus) with "Don't Look at the Dead Cat!," Maria Savva (Cyprus) with "folkLOL: more," Karakoncoles (Cyprus) with "Karakoncoles," x.ypno & panayotis (Cyprus) with "MISSPELINGS!," and Antonis Christ (Cyprus) with "Deep Inside," alongside an ongoing installation by Melina Michael (UK) titled "Pinned, Camera Obscura."
